Rights to 3 Needles: The Director’s Cut have been sold to Force Entertainment for Australia and New Zealand and California Filmes for Brazil. U.S. distribution rights were recently sold to Wolfe Releasing in partnership with Covington USA.

3 Needles: The Director’s Cut will be released in North America (U.S.), South America (Brazil) and now in Australia and New Zealand on December 1, 2006 (World AIDS Day). In the U.S., the theatrical release will coincide with a special World AIDS Day broadcast on Showtime.

The film has been endorsed by the United Nations and will be the first commercial film to participate in its Global Media AIDS Initiative.

Written and directed by acclaimed director, Thom Fitzgerald, (The Hanging Garden, The Event), 3 Needles: The Director’s Cut tells the moving story of how the harshest tragedies can sometimes bring out the best in human nature. It is a tale of bittersweet hope and of finding redemption in the unlikeliest of places. In South Africa, a nun risks all, including her salvation, to help the helpless. In China, a father unwittingly gives away his most precious possession for a few pieces of silver. In North America, a mother makes the ultimate sacrifice to ensure her son spends his remaining days in comfort.

Fitzgerald commented, “I’m really glad the film will be offered to an international audience on World AIDS Day. I hope that plan grows. It seems like both a smart strategy and a perfect forum for thinking and talking about the ideas in the film.”

3 Needles: The Director’s Cut is presented by Bigfoot Entertainment. Chief Executive Officer of Bigfoot Entertainment, Kacy Andrews, states, “The positive response from critics and audiences at the film festivals once again affirms our conviction to promote independent filmmakers, and we are excited that we can now share it with the audiences.”

Commenting on the sales, Horvath said, “The impressive sales to date for 3 Needles really speaks to the quality of the film as numerous elements combine to make the film appealing to international audiences. We're delighted to see such heavy interest in these films and anticipate continued interest as the market goes on."

The Director’s Cut, which is screening in the Cannes Market, varies substantially from the Canadian version of the film, including twenty minutes of restored footage and virtually every scene in a different order, so that instead of intercutting the scenario unfolds as three complete short stories.
