Celebrated Canadian filmmaker Thom Fitzgerald is currently wrapping his latest feature ‘3 Needles’ in Montreal.

The production stars Shawn Ashmore (XMen2), Academy Award-nominees Stockard Channing (The West Wing) and Chloe Sevigny (Dogville, Boys Don’t Cry), Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis (Moonstruck), Gary Farmer (Dear Man, Adaptation), Lucy Liu (Charlies Angels), Sandra Oh (Under the Tuscan Sun) and Sook Yin-Lee (former MuchMusic VJ),

‘3 Needles’ is about the radical outcome of seemingly inconsequential decisions. In different corners of the world a looming epidemic provokes drastic change in the lives of everyday people.

When crisis arises, Clara (Sevigny), Olive (Channing), and Jin Ping (Liu) undergo violent transformation in their quest for survival. Clara, a missionary in Africa, risks her salvation to save her charges. Her selflessness is contrasted by the ruthless industriousness of Jin Ping, a blood smuggler whose exploits have ramifications beyond her grasp. Their desperation is mirrored in Olive, a Montreal waitress who sacrifices her health with the intent of bettering her life and that of her sickly son.

In their passionate pursuit of ‘the good life’, no taboo is too sacred to be betrayed. ‘3 Needles’ bridges cultural barriers by presenting different perspectives on the strength of human perseverance.
